Circle Closing

After Casting a Spell Always close the circle. This is a sacred space where you have drawn a metaphysical circle. It needs to be closed and safe-guarded so all the spells you cast within will stay unbroken and beautiful. Walk counter-clockwise around your circle three times. On the first turn, verbally thank the four directions as you pass their stations. On the second turn, verbally thank your guardians and angels for their protection and guidance. On the third and final turn, say:

"O circle of power,
By my will, I release thee.
Thank you for your guidance.
Return to your place of power.
my will so Mote It Be!"

Clap hands loudly, or ring the bells again to disperse the energy. This action is like bursting a bubble or taking a broad expanse of energy and scattering it into a million parts to go out to the ethers and be transformed into your desire. With a broom or your hand, erase the doorway in the east. Lastly, erase the circumference of your circle.

Although it is not imperative to cast a full circle for every spell, it will focus your intent, and the sacred space will work as a magnet to draw in the elements and any assistance you need. You can choose to abbreviate this ritual for spells, or at the very least, you need to ground and protect yourself before all spellwork and magick is performed. One method of grounding and protecting begins with taking three deep breaths. Imagine a white golden light at your stomach, descending to the depths of Mother Earth. Once you feel centered, go ahead and start. You can cast a spell off-the-cuff with this quicker visualization and then repeat the spell under the protection and influence of a sacred circle.
